The Syndicat de l’Avène is an intermunicipal union of drinking water production and supply operating in 21 towns in the Alès basin.
This service is in charge with:
- The production of drinking water ( withdrawal and management of water) for 21 towns in the Alès basin, including Alès,
- Drinking Water supply for 20 town in the Alès basin, excluding Alès since the town manages it own supplying network thanks to RéAL (learn more about RéAL).
The Syndicat de l’Avène have entrusted the management of its network and equipment to VEOLIA , through an outsourcing contract.

The yearly amount of drinking water produced is around 8 7000 000 m³ of water.
The daily maximum production is 50 000 m³ (that is 16 Olympic swimming pools).
The Syndicat de l’Avène has 16 000 subscribers that is 36 000 people, who benefit from the public network on 373 miles with 71 reservoirs.
The Syndicat de l’Avène invests more than 2 million Euros per year in replacement works, expansion and strengthening of the drinking water network, so has to provide a durable and quality service.

Water Quality and Water Pipes Maintenance

- Information about the programming and progression of the works of maintenance, strengthening, moving or extension of the water pipes in your town.
- Complaint about these works
- Information on the quality of the water which is supplied (the results of water analysis are displayed in the town hall)
