The Pays Cevennes manages the non collective sanitation in 80 towns in the Alès basin, including every town in Grand Alès (see the list). That is to say 12 000 installations (sanitation center or micro-plants). If your house is not located in one of these towns, call you town hall.

Your non collective sanitation system is an essential part of your habitation that should not be neglected. Many systems which have not been installed properly cause nuisance (discharge, stench, pollution, etc.). A non collective sanitation system is an investment on a long time period and it requires a careful conception and installation.

How to install or renovate a sanitation system:

-You plan to built a private house in a place where there is non collective sanitation

- You own a private house which has a non collective sanitation system that must be renovated.

• 1. Retrieve these document in your town hall (in Alès, Mairie Prim’, rue Michelet, service Urbanisme) or at the Hôtel de Communauté du Grand Alès ( 1642 chemin de Trespeaux):
  - Dossier Sanitaire
  - Règlement de service
  -Notice "SPANC Mode d’emploi" .
• 2. Have a survey conducted by the service provider of your choice so as to define what kind of system should be used and secure that the dimension chosen are compatible. The SPANC service has a list of design offices at your disposal. If there already exist a sanitation zoning, this survey is not necessary.
• 3. You must fill in the “dossier sanitaire” (sanitation file) and then send it directly (or via your town hall) at:
  Syndicat Mixte du Pays Cévennes – Service Public d’Assainissement Non Collectif – Rue Saint Sébastien – BP . 50089 – 30102 Alès Cedex
  This file must enclose at least:
  - the authorization form, filled and signed
  - a plan of your plot of land
  - the study of definition of your sanitation project
  - a floor plan of your project
  - A soil survey if it had been conducted
  - Every further documentary evidence which you might deem useful to understand your project.
• 4. Once your file has been examined, the SPANC service will pass it to your town hall where you will have the recommendations for your project.
  - You will not possibly be able to begin the works without the SPANC’s consent.
  - If the SPANC doesn’t give its approval you will have to present a new project.
• 5. When the works are over, the SPANC will make sure that the project have been conducted properly and a compliance certificate will be handed to you. This control is aimed at securing that the file which have been proposed by the owner and approved by the SPANC has been respected during the installation of the non collective sanitation system.

A 150€ tax will be levied for the compliance control for any non collective sanitation installation, according to the 07/07/07 dliberation of the Comité syndical fron July 5th, 2007.
