Consultation and Awakening About Sustainable Development
Consultation

>Sustainable Development Local Council (CLDD, Conseil Local de Dévelopement Durable)
The first commitment of Grand Alès Agenda 21 is to develop new ways of consultation. The participation and consultation are the spur to organize actions of sustainable development.
As part of this, Grand Alès proposes a new organization to foster the involvement stakeholders in the actions that are taken and in the continuous enrichment of these actions.
In the same line, Grand Alès created in 2007 a local council for sustainable development (CLDD), to make debates and consultations easier about Agenda 21.

The CLDD is made of elected representatives and socio-economic protagonists of the territory, whose objectives are to built projects for sustainable development, to give advises to the town and to help increasing the awareness of people.

CLDD is aimed at:

  • Give an opinion about Agenda 21
  • Follow actions and assess them.
  • Contribute to consultation, debates, analysis, to help in a political decision.
  • To voice its opinions about the main themes of Agenda 21: accommodation, economic development, tourism, transportation, health, education, etc.

Specific commissions have been created to participate in meetings about those themes:

  • "Observation and exemplarity”
  • “Comparing experiences, work in network”
  • “Communication and sustainable development”

The CLDD gathers at least once a year to estimate the actions that have been taken and to propose evolutions in the Agenda 21.

> Project supporting in respect to sustainable development
Sustainable development was largely adopted as a structural basis at the scale of public policy and of organizations strategy. But this abstract concept is often misjudged as a mishmash of a concept because it presents vague contents hence the necessity to provide this concept with a concrete and operational shape. The need for a better evaluation of projects with respect to sustainable development urges us to have a measuring instrument to follow the advances in terms of sustainable development.

The Chart of support to sustainable development projects (based on the RST02 Chart or grille RST02) is a framework, a check-list to be gone over and which helps the user finding the pass to sustainable development in the course of a project. Thanks to the different units and graphics perfected on Excel, the chart offer a real reference point to those who wants to estimate the economical, environmental and social performance of a project.
