From July to August, Ales organizes a number of activities at the core of the town for its inhabitants and tourists.
Friday evening shows
One of the most important activity in the Estiv’Alès, this is a great popular show proposed for free on every Friday evening at the open-air theater of the Bosquet which can accommodate up to 6000 spectators. Program: famous French singers (Hugues Auffrey, Yves Duteil, Pierre Perret, etc.), operettas, humor, traditional shows, and a song contest prize at the end of summer.
“Les Musicales”
This new music festival was created by Alès in 2009. It proposes 3 successive nights during which three very different styles of music are presented: Popular Music, Jazz music, and Classical Music. This takes place on the first two weeks of July, and for a very affordable price.
14th of July
A Great festival is organized by Alès on the 14th of July for the Bastille Day (the French national holiday). It took place for the first time in summer 2009 and proposes a full program :
- Afternoon Jousts on the Gardon.
- Two great processions of floral floats called “corsos fleuris”, with peñas, musicians, etc. This event is also attended by Miss Alès and her first and second runner-ups. (late afternoon and evening)
- Fireworks at 11 pm on the Gardon.
- open-air dance halls and cafés by the Gardon to enjoy the fireworks.
- Balls in the city center.
Summernights
DJ parties for people aged 12 to 18 organized by the Forum Jeunes on the place de l’Hôtel de ville.
Program: techno music, spotlights and subwoofers. More than 3 000 teens on the spot each year.
Also…
Among other activities: thematic balls (60’s,80’s, etc.) or “bals musette” (balls led by an accordion band), a night market on the Wednesday evenings in the city center, museum exhibitions, toros-piscine, open-air movie theaters...
