The Alès street arts festival, an absolute must in July

Every first week of July since 1999, the city center is invaded by theatre companies which turn up unexpectedly at the corner of every street of Alès. The city center becomes a public theatre for this street arts festival, with a variety of crazy and eccentric shows.

About 20 000 spectators attend theses three crazy nights for free, in search of any kind of humor, from the most eccentric to the most racy. Artists really use art in all its guises to recreate today’s way of life in their own way.

Audacious and funny, this street arts festival has an excellent reputation in France and is one of the only festival of this kind to have been created by the “Scène Nationale” (national theaters).

Humor and friendliness are the key words of theses crazy nights.
