Since January 2000, Alphonse Daudet Multimedia Library, located in Centr’Alès, received more than 2 million users.

Alphonse Daudet Multimedia Library is a valuable information, teaching, training, and leisure tool since it proposes about 130 000 documents, books, CD, DVD, Comic Books, 200 newspapers and magazines available for the public. This 2 500 m² library is made up of a library, an audio library, a video library, a comic book space, a newspaper space beneath a cupola, an early childhood space,a work and consultation place, an old collection and a local collection…
223 000 items borrowed in 2009. 6 000 subscribers.

Computers, Internet and Official Website

• 38 computers available for public use.
  Informatics training sessions run by four professional coordinators are proposed in the library with workshops organized for anyone to access informatics or to improve themselves. From a first approach of computers to film making, Internet or office automation, these training sessions are available for free for the subscribers.
• Website
  a new website is going to be put online in 2010 with a set of online services. Thanks to a restricted access, subscribers will be able to check for the available items, to search the Encyclopædia Universalis, to administer their user account, and to participate in the readers community and in the life of the website.

Mediabus
A mediabus goes to meet people who are not used to go to the library. It is a moving display of the multimedia library in the neighborhoods that are off-centered. The mediabus takes part in reading workshops in infant schools, primary schools, associations and children outdoor activity centers.

• Opening Hours:
  > Winter opening hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 12 pm to 6 pm, and on Wednesday and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
  > Summer opening hours (July and August): Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday and Friday from 10am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm.

Opened since June 20th, 2009, this multimedia library proposes CD, DVD, exhibitions, and activities…

The multimedia library is located in a luminous and functional wing of the Cultural center, in a 300m² u-shaped space surrounding a patio.
The collection numbers 3 400 books, CD, magazines, and DVD and is completed by quarterly lending coming from the regional library. Salindres Multimedia Library was given the collection of the Bibliothèque de l’Usine.
Four computers made available for public use so as to make research on the Internet and on the library catalog.
Exhibitions and activities (workshops, conferences, etc.) are organized in the library on a regular basis.
Under the direction of Caroline Villasante, Salindres Library is attached to Grand Alès. It is opened to any inhabitant of Grand Alès.

• Opening hours: Tuesday from 4pm to 6 pm, Wednesday from 10 am to 12 pm, and from 1 pm to 6 pm, Friday from 10 am to 12 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm.
• Subscriptions: you must present a valid identification, an those who have a right to reduced tariffs must give a justification ( Assedic attestation, CAF attestation or pension fund attestation) , minors under 18 must present an authorization from a parent or a guardian.
• Rates:
  For people living in Grand Alès: adult rate 7€, reduced tariff: 2€, free for minor under 18.
