Modern and numerous sports gears and facilities: 11 stadiums, 2 athletic tracks, 2 sport centers, 8 gyms, 11 tennis courts, 2 bowling pitches, a riding school, a water sports center, an ice rink , a multi-sport area with a skate park, an indoor climbing gym which is unique in the South of France, 6 other sports centers are currently under construction next to the water sports center.

Alés has numerous sportspeople to be proud of such as: Romain Dumas and Stéphane Sarrazin in motor racing, Céline Couderc in swimming, Dominique André, Hassan Lahssini in track and field.

The town also has numerous first-class sports clubs: the CAC Volley-ball which moves in Pro A for the first time, the Alès Cévennes Athlétisme which numbers Ekiden, Cross-country running, and disabled sports champions. And eventually, the Cercle Nautique des Cévennes, 1st club of Gard, has been part of the 20 best swimming clubs in France for long now. So many reasons to take part in the “Equipe” Challenge for the sportiest town in France. Alès was in the last 5 competitors in the towns of more than 20 000 inhabitants. Our town finished at the 2nd place, which is a good reason for every Alesian to take pride in.
