Each year, the most beautiful historical, natural or cultural sites of Alès basin, open their doors on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. Most of the visits are available for free.

The historical center, the Fort Vauban, Maurice André School of Music, the PAB Museum, the Show Mine, the musée du Colombier, the botanical park of La Tour Vieille, Notre-Dame des Mines de l’Ermitage Sanctuary, the former bishop’s palace, Thoiras fire station, the City Hall, Saint-Joseph Church, Saint Jean-Baptiste Cathedral, the temple, the Capitole, Daudet Multimedia Library, the Arènes du Tempéras, the Residence of the Marquis de Castries, Saint-Germain de Montaigu Priory, the Villa Pasteur Park, etc.
Around Alès
- Each year the Tourist Center of Alès organizes a special discovery bus tour in several places of interest of the Grand Alès basin. The lunch is included in the initial rate. In 2009, the tour focussed on Bagard and Boisset-et-Gaujac.
- Moreover, the most outstanding places in the Alès basin are opened to the public on these two days, the Trabuc Caves, the Musée du Désert in Mialet, the castles of Montmoirac, the Arènes and Saint-Christol as well as the Musée du Scribe in Saint-Christol, the Musée du Vieil Alais, ans the 10th century Roman Church in Saint-Hilaire-de-Brethmas, Saint-Jean Castel, Maison Rouge textile mill, the Musée des Vallées cévenoles in Saint-Jean-du-Gard, the Château de Sauvages Arboretum in Saint-Jean-du-Pin, the Tour Bécamel in Salindres, the 12th century roman Church of Saint-Martin-de-Valgalgues, etc.
